Destruction of building
of Animal (Diseases and Quarantine) Act
(1)
If the Director is of the opinion that any building which has been occupied by an infected animal cannot be effectively disinfected, he may, with the approval of the Minister, by order in writing direct the owner or occupier thereof to destroy the building and to burn the materials thereof within such time as may be specified in the order.
(2)
If any direction in an order made under subsection (1) is not complied with within the time specified in the order, the Director may cause the building and the materials thereof to be destroyed.
(3)
No compensation shall be payable in respect of any building which has been destroyed by the owner or occupier thereof in compliance with the direction in the order under subsection (1) or which destruction was caused by the Director under subsection (2).
(4)
Any person who fails without lawful excuse to comply with any direction given to him under subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or both.
