Section 51

The Medical Officer shall examine every Examinat!op.

detained person sentenced for punishment for any of, and .VlSlts to, detained offence before any such punishment is carried out persons.

and certify whether in his opinion such punishment can be inflicted without the probability of serious injury be caused thereby.

He shall visit such of the detained persons as are sick; he shall see every de-tained person sentenced to close confinement once a day.
