Section 42
(1)
The award of a degree or a diploma to a person by a higher educational institution may only be made if that person has attained the minimum standard required for the purposes of that degree or diploma as has been determined by the relevant authority.
(2)
Subject to subsection (1), a degree may only be awarded by a higher educational institution that has the status of a registered university or university college or a branch campus.
