Section 23

No person suffering from any such disease shall enter any public conveyance.

Any person who contravenes subsection (1) or (2)

shall be guilty of an offence: Penalty, a fine of $200.

If any person so suffering, or any such corpse, is conveyed in any public or private conveyance, the owner or person in charge thereof so soon at it comes to his knowledge shall give notice to the health officer, and if he fails so to do he shall be guilty of an offence: Penalty, a fine not exceeding $100, and such owner or person in charge shall be entitled to recover in a summary manner before a Court of a Magistrate from the person so conveyed by him, or from the person causing that person or corpse to be so conveyed, a sum sufficient to cover any loss and expense incurred by him in connection with the disinfection of the conveyance.

The health officer when so notified by such owner or person in charge shall provide for the disinfection of such conveyance and may do so free of charge.

Nothing in this section shall prevent the removal by an ambulance or other proper vehicle provided by the local authority of persons suffering from infectious disease or the bodies of those who have died whilst suffering from such disease.
