Section 8
(1)
No officer shall be retained in public service under the
Government after he has attained the age of 55 years save in exceptional cases and with the approval of the Minister of Finance, with the approval of
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan*.

(2)
It shall be lawful for the Minister of Finance, with the approval of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan*, to require an officer to retire from the public service of Brunei Darussalam —
(a)
at any time after he attains the age of 55 years;
(b)
in the case of a police officer below the rank of Assistant
Superintendent or in the case of any other police officer who would if it were not for the passing of this Act have been eligible to have retired on attaining the age of 45 years or in the case of a prison officer below the rank of superintendent at any time after he has attained the age of 45 years; or
(c)
in the case of a female officer, on marriage.
Maximum pension.
