Section 36
(1)
If any person whose duty it is to register any marriage discovers any error in the form or substance of any certificate or entry in the register kept by him, he shall forthwith proceed to correct such certificate or entry in the presence of the parties to the marriage or in their absence in the presence of two independent witnesses.
(2)
The person making such correction shall sign his name in the margin opposite such correction and his signature shall be attested by the parties to the marriage or by two independent witnesses in the absence of the parties.
(3)
A certified copy of such corrected certificate or entry under the hand of the person making it shall be sent to the person, if any, to whom the original certificate was sent.
