Section 8

Whenever any person is arrested and detained in custody by an officer of the Bureau or a police officer for an offence against this Act and it appears that the investigation cannot be completed within a period of 24 hours from the time that the person is arrested, an officer of the Bureau or a police officer may produce such person before a Magistrate and the Magistrate may, whether he has or has no jurisdiction to try the case authorise the detention of such person in such custody as the Magistrate thinks fit for a term not exceeding 15 days in the whole.
