Section 5

The Director shall prepare and keep under continual review fisheries plans based on the best scientific information available and designed to ensure the optimum utilisation of fishery resources, consistent with conservation and management policies and with the avoidance of overfishing, and in accordance with overall national policies, development plans and programmes.

Each plan and each modification or revision thereof shall be implemented after approval by the Minister.

Fisheries 14

All development within the fisheries industry shall conform generally with the conservation and management policies described in the fisheries plans.
