Section 31
( 1)
Where the taking of a child has been notified to and permitted by a protector under section 30, the person who has taken such child shall, if at any subsequent time -

(a} he intends to return the child to the care, custody or control of the guardian of the child or any other person from whom the child was taken; or
(b)
without his knowledge or consent, the child has left his care, custody or control 1
report in person to a protector and shall 1 whenever practicable, bring or cause to be brought before such protector the child and the guardian of the child or any other person from whom the child was taken.

On receiving a report under subsection !1) 1 the protector shall make a note thereof and shall
(a} if the child and the guardian of the child or any other person from whom the child was taken are present at the time such report is received, return the child to the guardian or such person 1 as the case may be; or
(b)
if the guardian of the child or any other person from whom the child was taken is not present at the time such report is received -
!i)
take the child into temporary custody until he can be returned to his guardian or such person; and
!ii) forthwith send written information to the last known place of abode of his guardian or such person.
(3)
Any person who fails to comply with the provisions of subsection (1)
shall be guilty of an offence.
