Section 30
Offences by men of Reserve Regiment
of Royal Brunei Armed Forces Act
(1)
Any man of the Reserve Regiment who, when called out for full-time service or for training, fails without reasonable excuse to appear at the time and place at which he was required by the competent authority to attend may, if he is not tried by court-martial or dealt with summarily under the provisions of this Act for an offence arising from such failure, be tried by a civil court for an offence under this subsection and shall, on conviction by such court, be liable to a fine of $10,000 and imprisonment for 2 years.
(2)
Any man of the Reserve Regiment who —
(a)
fails without reasonable excuse to comply with any regulations made under this Act; or
(b)
uses threatening or insulting language or behaves in an insubordinate manner to any officer or soldier who would be his superior officer if such man were subject to military law, is guilty of an offence and may be tried by court-martial or dealt with summarily as though he were at all material times subject to military law;
and if such man is not so tried or so dealt with, he may be tried by a civil court, and shall on conviction by such court, be liable to a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for one year.
