Section 49

Any person, who produces or attempts to produce in any child or person by inoculation with variolous matter or by wilful exposure to variolous matter or to any matter, article or thing impregnated with variolous matter, or wilfully by any other means whatsoever produces or attempts to produce the disease of small-pox in any such child or person, shall be guilty of an

offence: Penalty, a fine of $1,000, and imprisonment for 6

months.
