(1)
For the purpose of this regulation and regulation 30, "tankers" include oil tankers as defined in regulation 25, chemical tankers as defined in regulation 234 and gas carriers as defined in regulation 237.
(2)
Every tanker constructed on or after 1st. July, 1998 shall be provided with the means to enable the crew to gain safe access to the bow even in severe weather conditions. For tankers constructed before 1st. July, 1998, such means of access shall be provided at the first scheduled dry-docking after 1st. July, 1998, but not later than 1st. July, 2001. Such means of access shall be approved by the
Director based on the guidelines developed by the Organisation.*
