A ship shall not be registered under any name except a name which is approved by the Registrar and a Brunei Darussalam ship shall not be described by any name other than that by which it is for the time being registered.

(2)
The Minister may, with the approval of His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan, make regulations for the approval of a ship's name and the changes thereto.
i3) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (2), the Registrar may, with the approval of the Minister, in the regulations -
{a} require an existing ship to be registered under its existing name unless a change thereof has been approved in accordance with the regulations; and
(b)
require an existing ship to change its name if it is the same as or similar to the name of a Brunei Darussalam ship.
