(1)
Notwithstanding the provisions of any other written l~w, the Public Prosecutor may, if he considers that it is likely to contain any information relating to the payment of ransom for the release of a person who has been wrongfully restrained or wrongfully confined, authorise any police officer-
(a)
to intercept, detain and open any postal article in course of transmission by post;
(b)
to intercept any message transmitted or received by any telecommunication;
or
Duty to give infonnation to police

(c)
to intercept or listen to any conversation by telephone.
(2)
For the purposes of this section -
"postal article" shall have the same meaning as in the Post OfficeAct; and
"telecommunication"
shall have the same meaning as in the Telecommunications Act.
