Section 36
(1)
When there is reason to believe that a forest offence has been committed by a person who is unknown or cannot be found, all property seized in respect thereof under section 24 shall, unless it has been disposed of under section 35, be taken possession of, and may be disposed of, by a forest officer expressly empowered in that behalf under section 51; but no such property shall be sold or otherwise disposed of until the expiration of one month from the date of seizure of such property or without hearing the

person, if any, claiming any right thereto and the evidence, if any, which he may produce in support of his claim.
(2)
When possession is taken of any property under this section, the forest officer so taking possession shall either cause a notice thereof to be served upon any person whom he has reason to suspect to be interested in the property or publish such notice in any way he thinks fit.
