Section 31

The Minister shall issue general directions in respect of teacher education.

No person shall establish or maintain an institution that provides teacher education except with the approval of the Minister.

Subject to subsection (2), all teacher education institutions shall be registered under this Act.

The courses of study and training programmes in teacher education institutions may only be conducted upon receiving approval from the Minister for such courses and programmes, subject to such conditions as the Minister may think fit to impose.

A teacher education institution established under this Act may award a certificate, diploma or such other qualification as may be prescribed.

The Minister may establish and maintain teacher education institution and provide teacher education within such institutions.

The Minister may, with the approval of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan, make regulations for giving effect to and carrying out the provisions of this section in respect of institutions providing teacher education.
