of Drug Trafficking (Recovery of Proceeds) Act
Section 30
(1)
For the purpose of this Act, a person shall be taken to be convicted of a drug trafficking offence if he absconds in connection with that drug trafficking offence, and any reference in sections 3 to 8 to a defendant shall be deemed to include a reference to such person.
(2)
For the purpose of subsection (1), a person shall be taken to abscond in connection with a drug trafficking offence if (whether before or after the commencement of this Act) —
(a)
investigations for a drug trafficking offence have been commenced against him; and
(b)
(i)
he dies before proceedings in respect of the offence were instituted, or if such proceedings were instituted, he dies before he is convicted; or

(ii)
at the end of a period of 6 months from the date on which the investigations referred to in paragraph (a)
were commenced, he cannot be found or he is not amenable to extradition proceedings.
