Section 293
Copies of proceedings
(1)
If any person affected by a judgment or order passed or made by a criminal Court desires to have a copy of any order or deposition or other part of the record, he shall on applying for such copy, be furnished therewith by the Court:
Provided that he pay for the order, deposition or record such reasonable sum as the Court may direct unless the Court for some special reason thinks fit to furnish it free of cost. Such copy shall not be chargeable with stamp duty.
(2)
Notwithstanding anything in subsection (I), an accused person committed for trial shall be entitled to receive on request free of charge copy of the depositions of the witnesses recorded by the Magistrate.
