Extent to which compliance with British Standard Specification required

(1)
All pipes, fittings and other materials referred to in the regulations made under this Act in respect of which a British Standard
Specification is available shall conform with the appropriate standard or any revised addition thereto:
Provided that this Act does not apply to pipes, fittings and other materials, the use of which has been permitted in writing by the Authority.
(2)
Any requirement in the regulations made under this Act that a water fitting shall comply with a British Standard Specification shall extend only to so much of that specification as relates to the size, nature, materials, strength and workmanship of such fitting.
