STATUTORY DECLARATIONS

Opening note

Preamble

An Act to make provision concerning statutory declarations Commencement: 11th January1951

Section 1

Citation

This Act may be cited as the Statutory Declarations Act.

Section 2

Declarations made in Brunei Darussalam

It shall be lawful for any Magistrate or any officer authorised by His

Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan to take and receive in Brunei

Darussalam the declaration of any person voluntarily making the declaration in the form set out in the Schedule.

Section 3

False declarations punishable under Penal Code

Declarations made in Brunei Darussalam by virtue of the provisions of this Act shall be deemed to be such declarations as are referred to in sections 199 and 200 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22).

Section 4

Fees

A person making any declaration by virtue of the provisions of this Act shall pay to the officer taking the declaration such fees as His Majesty the

Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan in Council may, by public notification, prescribe.
