Section 23
(1)
If a person appearing before a Magistrate or an Attesting Officer for the purpose of being attested knowingly makes a false answer to any question contained in the attestation paper and put to him by or by the direction of the Magistrate or the Attesting Officer, as the case may be, he is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for 6 months.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is hereby declared that a person may be proceeded against under this section notwithstanding that he has since become subject to military law.
