Penalties
(1)
Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with any provision of this Act is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for 2 years and, in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a fine of $20,000 and imprisonment for 5 years.
(2)
Where any person or persons is convicted of an offence, the court by which he is so convicted may, in addition to any other penalty, make an order debarring him or any firm of which he is a partner or any corporation of which he is an officer, from carrying on business for such period as the court may determine. Any person who fails to comply with any such order is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of $20,000 and imprisonment for 5 years.
(3)
A conviction for any offence under this Act may be had before the Court of a Magistrate which shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any other written law, have jurisdiction to pass any sentence provided in this
Act or any rules made thereunder for such offence.
