Section 226
(1)
Unless expressly provided otherwise, this Part applies to dangerous goods classified under regulation 227 which are carried in packaged form or in solid form in bulk (referred to in this Part as dangerous goods), in all ships to which these Regulations apply and in cargo ships of less than 500 tons.
(2)
This Part does not apply to ships' stores and equipment.
(3)
The carriage of dangerous goods is prohibited except in accordance with this Part. In addition, the requirements of Part D shall apply to the carriage of INF cargo as defined in regulation 240.
(4)
In addition to this Part 1 the safe packing, marking, labelling and stowage of specific dangerous goods or categories of dangerous goods and the precautions necessary in their relation to other cargo shall be in accordance with 902
the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code !IMDG Code) and the relevant sections and the related parts of Appendix B of the Code of Safe Practice for Solid
Bulk Cargoes (BC Code) adopted by the Organisation by resolution A.434(Xl) and as amended and adopted by the Organisation from time to time.
