Section 131
(1)
The Director shall be charged with the regulation and control of navigation in Brunei Darussalam waters and it shall be his duty to establish control stations at the locations as may seem to him to be necessary to regulate and control navigation.

(2)
Such control stations, when established, shall carry out the functions
{a}
controlling the movement of ships entering and leaving a port area;
(b} receiving distress messages from ships at sea;
{c} performing the functions of at least for sea area A1 as required by the Global Maritime Distress Signal Systems of the International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea;
(d)
assisting in the coordination of a maritime search and rescue;
{e}
broadcasting of navigational warnings and information; and
{f} carrying out such other duties as are imposed by the Director or any other written law.
