Composition of offences
of Merchant Shipping (CIVIL Liability and Compensation for Oil Pollution) Act
(1)
The Director may compound any offence against this Act or any regulations made thereunder which is prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from the person reasonably suspected of having committed that offence a sum not exceeding $2,000.
(2)
On payment of such sum, no further proceedings shall be taken against such person in respect of that offence.
(3)
The Minister may, with the approval of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan, make regulations prescribing the offences which may be compounded and the method and procedure thereof.
