Section 54

The Minister may, by notification published in the Gazette, require all contractors and sub-contractors to be registered with the

Commissioner and thereafter no person shall act as a contractor or a sub-contractor unless he is so registered.

Every application for such registration shall be in such form as the Commissioner may determine.

Every person so registered under this section as a contractor or sub-contractor is deemed to be the employer of the workmen employed by him.

Every contractor or sub-contractor who has been so registered and who changes the name under which he carries on business shall, within 7 days of the change of name, apply in writing to the Commissioner for re-registration and cancellation of the previous registration.

The Commissioner may effect the registration of any person under this section and may cancel any such registration.

The Minister may, with the approval of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan, make regulations to prescribe the requirements and conditions for registration of a contractor or sub-contractor under this section.

Any person who contravenes this section is guilty of an offence.
