Section 12

On or before the day of nomination at an election a person shall be named in writing by or on behalf of each candidate as his agent for such election.

A candidate may name himself as election agent, and thereupon shall, so far as circumstances admit, be sub-ject to the provisions of this Act, both as a candidate and as an election agent, and any reference in this Act to an elec-tion agent shall be construed to refer to the candidate acting in his capacity of election agent.

On or before the day of nomination the name and address of the election agent of each candidate shall be declared in writing by the candidate or some other person on his behalf to the returning officer, and the returning officer shall forthwith, by affixing a notice in a conspicuous place outside his office, give public notification of the name and address of every election agent so declared.

( 4) One election agent only shall be appointed for each candidate, but the appointment, whether the election agent appointed be the candidate himself or not, may be revoked and in the event of such revocation or of his death, whether such event is before, during or after the election, then forthwith another election agent shall be appointed, and his name and address declared in writing to the return-ing officer, who shall forthwith give public notice of the same in the n1anner aforesaid.

If no person's name and address has been de-clared as required by subsection (3) hereof, the candidate shall be deemed at that time to have named himself as elec-tion agent and to have revoked any appointment of another person as his election agent.

Election Offences

Every election agent shall have, within the con-stituency in which he is an election agent, an office to which all claims, notices, writs, summonses and documents may be sent and the address of such office shall be declared at the same time as the appointment of the agent to the returning officer, and shall be stated in the public notification under subsection (3) hereof with the name of the election agent and his address.
