Section 143
Any person who –
(a)
assaults or obstructs any officer of customs or other public officer or any person acting in his aid or assistance, in the execution of his duty or in the due seizing of any goods liable to seizure under this Order;
(b)
fails to comply with any lawful requirement of any officer of customs or other public officer in the execution of his duty under this Order;
(c)
rescues or endeavours to rescue, or causes to be rescued, any goods which have been duly seized;
(d)
before or after any seizure staves, breaks or otherwise destroys any package or goods to prevent the seizure thereof or the securing of the same; or
(e)
intentionally offers any resistance or illegal obstruction to the lawful apprehension of himself or of any other person, or escapes or attempts to escape from any custody in which he is lawfully detained, or rescues or attempts to rescue any other person from any custody in which such person is lawfully detained, shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction –

(i)
for a first offence, to a fine not exceeding $16,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 9 months or both; and
(ii)
for a second or subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding
$40,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 18 months or both.
