(1)
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 18, the Authority shall have power, on giving not less than 3 months notice, to withdraw in any currency notes and coins on payment of the face value thereof and any such notes or coins shall, on the expiration of such notice, cease to be legal tender.

Any such notice shall give holders of the currency notes and coins to be withdrawn, a reasonable period being not less than 6 months, within which such notes or coins shall be exchanged at their face value for other legal tender issued by the Authority.
