Search and rescue
(1)
The Director shall publish rules governing the provision of search and rescue units which shall render such assistance as may be required to any aircraft missing or in distress within the territory of Brunei Darussalam. In carrying out its duties in this respect, the Director shall co-ordinate as necessary with aerodromes, local government, police, armed forces and other concerned organisations.
(2)
In the event that the aircraft missing or in distress is registered in another country or territory, the Director may permit the owner of the aircraft or the authorities of such other country or territory to provide such measures of assistance as may be required under the circumstances, provided that the furnishing of any such assistance shall, at all times, be under the control of the Director.
(3)
The Director may also consider requests by other countries or territories or international organisations to render search and rescue assistance to aircraft missing or in distress in the territory of an adjacent country or territory or over the high seas.
