Section 19
(1)
A medical officer before whom a child or young person is taken under section 18(1) or (4) —
(a)
shall conduct or cause to be conducted an examination of that child or young person;
(b)
may, in examining the child or young person and if so authorised by a protector or police officer, administer or cause to be administered such procedures and tests as may be necessary to diagnose his condition; and
(c)
may provide or cause to be provided such treatment as he considers necessary as a result of such diagnosis.
(2)
If the medical officer is of the opinion that the hospitalisation of a child or young person is necessary for the purposes of medical care or treatment, a protector or police officer may authorise his hospitalisation.
