(CONDUCT OF SELECTION FOR APPOINTMENT) REGULATIONS, 2005
Opening note
These Regulations may be cited as the Constitution (District Representatives)
(Conduct of Selection for Appointment) Regulations, 2005.
Interpretation.
In these Regulations -
"District Officer" means the District Officer of the District in respect of which a selection of candidates for appointment is to take place under sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 5 or under sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 6 of the Second Schedule to the Constitution;
"Selection Committee" means the Committee appointed by His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan under sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 5 of the
Second Schedule to the Constitution.
His Majesty to specify date etc. of selection.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan may for any District specify by notice in the Gazette the date, time and place on, at and where the names of candidates eligible for selection for appointment as District Representatives in the Legislative Council under regulation 4 shall be put forward pursuant to sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 5 or under sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 6 of the
Second Schedule to the Constitution.
Selection for appointment.
Any person eligible for selection for appointment as a District Representative may, with his written consent, allow his name to be put forward in writing to the
District Officer by two persons who are themselves eligible for selection for appointment in that District.

Withdrawal of candidature.
A candidate may withdraw his candidature at any time by giving written notice to the District Officer.
District Officer to regulate own procedure.
The District Officer shall, subject to these Regulations, regulate his own procedure.
District Officer to inform Selection Committee.
The District Officer shall, immediately after the names of the candidates eligible for selection for appointment have been put forward, inform the Selection
Committee of the names of those candidates.
Non-compliance with Regulations.
No selection for appointment under these Regulations shall be invalid by reason only of any failure to comply with the provisions of these Regulations if it appears to the Selection Committee that it was conducted in accordance with the principles laid down in such provisions, and that such failure did not affect the result of that selection.
