AIR NAVIGATION (OVERSEAS TERRITORIES} ORDER, 1989
Authorisations under Article 99
Opening note
the Director of Civil Aviation, for the purposes of that Order other than of Articles 4(14), 69(1} and 98;
such members and employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of the United Kingdom as are authorised by that Authority to act on its bli!half for the purposes of the Articles specified in the first column of the Schedule, to the extent and for the purposes specified in the second column thereof; and
such members and employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of the United Kingdom as are authorised by that Authority to act on its behalf for the purposes of those Articles, to be authorised persons, as defined in Article 99, for the purposes of Articles 59,
60, 87 and 88.
All authorisations made pursuant to Article 92 of the Air Navigation
(Overseas Territories) Order, 1977 of the United Kingdom are revoked, with effect from the making of the Air Navigation Act (Amendment)
Order, 1997.

ISSUING a permit to fly in respect of an aircraft.
SATISFYING himself that an aircraft is fit to fly in accordance with Article 8[11 and
RECOMMENDING to the Director of Civil
Aviation that a certificate of airworthiness may be issued together with the grounds, for such recommendation and the recommended period of validity.

SPECIFYING the equipment considered necessary for airworthiness (including in particular the circumstances under which an aircraft may fly with specified items of equipment inoperative).
RECOMMENDING the category to be specified in a certificate of airworthiness and the applicable conditions including the performance group.
APPROVING on behalf of the Director of
Civil Aviation amendments to the conditions associated with a certificate of airworthiness.
RECOMMENDING to the Director of Civil
Aviation the issue of a certificate of validation, specifying its period of validity and the conditions to which it is subject.
RENEWING a certificate of airworthiness, save that if the proposed period of validity of the renewal certificate of airworthiness exceeds the period of validity of the previous certificate of airworthiness he shall consult the Director of Civil Aviation prior to such renewal.
SPECIFYING any inspection required to be made for the purpose of ascertaining whether the aircraft remains airworthy.
REQUIRING an aircraft to be modified for the purpose of ensuring that it remains airworthy.
RECOMMENDING to the Director of Civil
Aviation the approval of persons to make reports and any conditions to be associated with such approval.
APPROVING the material to be used for overhaul, repair or modification of an aircraft and the manner of such overhaul, repair or modification.

APPROVING maintenance schedules for an aircraft (including in particular its engines)
and for aircraft equipment, radio station and flight data recorder.
APPROVING persons to issue certificates of release to service, certificates of maintenance review and certificates of compliance in a particular case.
DIRECTING that a certificate of release to service be required to be in force in respect of an aircraft of which the maximum weight does not exceed 2, 730 kilograms and in respect of which a certificate of airworthiness in the special category is in force.
APPROVING the type of equipment required to be installed in an aircraft.
APPROVING types of radio equipment which may be fitted to an aircraft and the manner of their installation and issuing such approval to be attached to the certificate of
. airworthiness of that aircraft.
REQUIRING OR APPROVING the times at which an aircraft shall be weighed and the position of its centre of gravity determined and the manner of such weighing and determination including approval of the items to be included in the basic weight of the aircraft and the weights to be included when determining its centre of gravity.
REQUIRING such inspections, investi-gations, tests, experiments and flight trials as may be deemed necessary for the purposes of
Part III of the Order.
APPROVING the arrangement under which an exit may be obstructed by cargo.

APPROVING the arrangement under which an aircraft may fly with an exit inoperative and the associated number of passengers.
AGREEING to the variation of a flight manual, performance schedule or other document incorporated by reference in the certificate of airworthiness.
